Hello, my name is Mariah! I’m an author, EMT, and mom living in sunny San Diego, where "Yay!" is my favorite word and a reflection of my positive outlook on life. I recently published my memoir, The Dragon In You, A Memoir, which captures the first 32 years of my journey through love, loss, and the rediscovery of faith.
Growing up in the Mormon Church, my life took a profound turn when I began dating my husband, a dedicated military man who served for 14 years. Our life together was marked by his struggle with PTSD and addiction, a battle that deeply affected our family. I stayed by his side as long as I could, but when my physical safety was at risk, I made the heart-wrenching decision to leave. Even then, I continued to advocate for him from a distance. Tragically, he passed away in 2021, leaving behind our two children and a legacy of resilience that I now share through my writing.
My memoir also delves into my spiritual journey—leaving the Mormon Church, wrestling with my faith, and ultimately finding my way back to a renewed sense of spirituality. Through my writing, I hope to connect with others who have faced similar struggles and to offer a message of hope and empowerment.
In addition to my work as an author, I have been an EMT since 2010, serving both in San Diego and Las Vegas. My career has taken me from the fast-paced world of ambulance work to the excitement of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and I’ve provided care at various special events across the region. As I continue to grow as a writer, my goal is to reach more people, share my experiences, and inspire others to find the strength within themselves—the dragon in them—to overcome life’s challenges.
